Final Handout

The final sketch was scanned then imported into Adobe Illustrator. I used 'live trace' to convert my sketch into a vector image.

Summer Reading Program 2011

Every summer the Southfield Library participates in the Summer Reading Program provided by the Michigan Library Association (MLA). Each summer has a theme for all age groups and this year’s theme is travel: One World, Many Stories (Youth); You Are Here (Teen); Book A Trip (Adult). MLA gives all participating libraries packaged graphics and suggested programs to host for summer fun @ your library. With this, SPL customize our summer programs and advertising to fit our patrons’ wants and needs.

I rendered this vector graphic, using a sketch that my co-work drew, for the Adults Summer Reading logo.

Recycling Fun

Since I became a recycling maniac, recycle here!, I try to find other ways to reuse scrap material. On rePlayGround.com, I discover two projects using cereal boxes: pencil case & wallet. These projects are too cute and very useful, especially since I'm an artist, the pencil cases comes in handy. . . but I eat more cereal then the average person. Katherine gave me the great idea to donate these fabulous crafts to our youth department so they may give them to our young patrons.

Oh, and I also made bookmarks! I was successful using all parts of the cereal box. . . YAY!

The many faces of Katherine

SPL's Holiday Recipes

Every year, the Southfield Library hosts a private Holiday Feast for its staff. Staff voluntarily participates by cooking their favorite/best dish(es) to share with others. The Feast is held for two consecutive days in December and employees will congregate in the staff lounge to devour on all the foods brought by their fellow co-workers. And as always the food is so delicious we must ask, 'what's the recipe?' To share the yumminess, Katherine and I have collected everyones' recipes and constructed a cookbook! Now, all staff can enjoy their favorite co-works' foods any time of the year.

Using the photo on the left as a reference, I rendered a vector graphic in Adobe Illustrator to create a logo for SPL's downloadable audio books display.
